MoveWyse is an online platform that connects customers who need items moved or delivered with independent transport providers ("drivers"). Customers post jobs; drivers bid; the customer pays MoveWyse a deposit to secure a chosen driver, which unlocks the driver's contact details and an on-site chat. The transport itself, and payment for it, is arranged directly between the customer and the driver. We are the controller of the personal data described below.
From everyone: name, email, phone number, account login details, and records of your activity on the platform (jobs, quotes, messages, ratings, support contacts), plus technical data (device, IP address, cookies, see our Cookie Policy). If you contact our Help Centre, we also collect what you tell us in your ticket (including your subject, description, any related job reference, and up to five photos you choose to attach).
From customers: the job details you post (locations, dates, item descriptions, photos) and your deposit-payment details. Card details are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
From drivers: profile and vehicle details, service areas, and verification documents you upload (e.g. driving licence, insurance). If a document is automatically rejected because it isn't recognised, you can appeal or re-submit, and we keep a record of that exchange. If we carry out background checks, we will tell you separately and rely on a specific lawful condition for any criminal-offence data.
Biometric identity verification (special category data). To verify that a driver is who they say they are, we use Veriff, a third-party identity verification provider, to check a photo of your face against your driving licence, including a liveness check to confirm you are physically present. This involves processing your facial biometric data, which is a special category of personal data under UK GDPR. We only carry out this check with your explicit consent, given separately and specifically for this purpose at the point you start the verification step, and you can withdraw that consent (though we may then be unable to verify you as a driver). We do not use this data for any other purpose, and it is processed by Veriff under a data processing agreement and deleted in line with their retention schedule. If we ever change identity verification provider, we will update this section.
To operate your account and provide the platform (post jobs, receive bids, take the deposit, unlock contact, host chat and ratings): performance of a contract with you.
To verify drivers' identity, licence and insurance documents so the marketplace is safe and trusted: legitimate interests (and legal obligation where applicable), except for the facial biometric check itself, which we only carry out on the basis of your explicit consent, given separately from these terms.
To prevent fraud, abuse, and platform circumvention, and to keep the service secure: legitimate interests (and, where it applies, the recognised legitimate interests basis).
To calculate, display and improve reputation, tiers and booking history: legitimate interests.
To meet legal, accounting and tax obligations (e.g. keeping transaction records): legal obligation.
For non-essential cookies and any marketing messages: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can ask us for our balancing assessment.
Between customer and driver (important). When you pay the deposit on a job, we disclose your contact details to the matched driver, and the driver's to you, so you can arrange the work. From that point, you and the driver each become independent controllers of the other's data and are each responsible for how you use it. Use it only to carry out the job.
With our service providers, who act on our instructions to help us run the platform:
We will update this list if we change or add a provider. With authorities or third parties where we must by law, to establish or defend legal claims, or to investigate misuse.
We do not sell your personal data, and MoveWyse does not show third-party advertising in the service.
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses). You can ask us for details.
We keep account and job data for as long as your account is active and then for a limited period afterwards to handle disputes and meet legal obligations (e.g. financial records are typically kept for six years). Verification documents are kept only as long as needed for their purpose. Ask us for our retention schedule.
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including access controls, encryption in transit, and server-side restrictions so that contact details are only released after the deposit is paid.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can download a copy of your data directly from your account settings at any time. You can also request deletion of your account from settings; we will action this as soon as reasonably possible, though some records may be kept for a short period to meet our legal obligations (for example, financial records). For anything else, contact hello@movewyse.com. We will respond within the statutory time limits and may ask you to confirm your identity.
For any issue with a job, a refund, or another user, raise it through our Help Centre by submitting a ticket from your account workspace. If you are unhappy with how we have specifically handled your personal data, you can complain to us at hello@movewyse.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, although we would welcome the chance to resolve it first.
MoveWyse is intended for adults (18 and over) and is not directed at children.
We may update this policy; we will post the new version here and update the effective date.
